Problem

Years of use by beef cattle had worn away the smooth cream surface of the concrete feed trough, leaving rough, exposed concrete. The deteriorated surface was difficult to thoroughly clean and created small pores and irregular areas where food residue, moisture and bacteria could collect. The farmer needed the trough restored to a smooth, durable surface that would be easier to clean and maintain.

Solution

Permanent Coating Solutions thoroughly cleaned and prepared the damaged concrete feed trough to create a solid surface for the new coating system. A gray epoxy primer was applied to the prepared concrete, followed by a thick application of high-density epoxy to rebuild and encapsulate the worn surface. The trough was finished in a tan color, creating a new smooth, durable surface that is more resistant to moisture and bacteria buildup and much easier to clean than the deteriorated exposed concrete.
